Jesus wants to elevate our focus above the physical world and its bread to the eternal realm and the Bread of Life much as our bodies need bread to live, so our spirits need Christ to live as the bread that we eat becomes a part of us, likewise we can receive Christs divine nature when we partake of his flesh John 6:54John 6:54 · KJVWhoso eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, hath eternal life; and I will raise him up at the last day.
