God is love.

COME, ye that know and fear the Lord And raise your souls above; Let ev'ry heart and voice accord, To sing that—God is love.

This precious truth his word declares, And all his mercies prove; While Christ, th' atoning Lamb, appears, To show that—God is love.

Behold, his loving-kindness waits For those who from him rove, And calls for mercy reach their hearts, To teach them—God is love.

The work begun is carried on, By pow' r from heav'n above; And every step, from first to last, Proclaims that—God is love,

In all his doctrines and commands, His counsels and designs— In ev'ry work his hands have fram'd, His love supremely shines.

Oh! may we all, while here below, This best of blessings prove— Till warmer hearts, in brighter worlds, Shall sing that—God is love.
